“Sports for All”: Empowering People with Disabilities to Lead an Active Lifestyle is a two-year project seeking to improve the health and quality of life for Brazilians with disabilities. This is achieved through participation in sport and physical activity while increasing public awareness of the right to sport for people with disabilities.

This project, initiated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be implemented by BlazeSports International. The “Sports for All” Project will directly benefit 300 Brazilians in Rio de Janerio, Brasilia and Natal.

BlazeSports traveled to Brazil in March to host “Sports for All” activities, which included training workshops that targeted Brazilian athlete ambassadors on inclusive strategies to engage people with and without physical disabilities through sport and physical activities. Workshops were held in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasilia and were followed by an inclusive sports festival in each city that was open to the public. The festivals provided opportunities for community members, workshop participants and project partners to try adaptive sports, implement learned skills and increase awareness about the initiative.

BlazeSports hosted final trainings and workshops in July 2016 leading up to the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Check out our informational video below and click here for the full press release!
