For full event information see 2013 Lamback Disability Meet Info
This weekend, the Georgia Blazers Swim Team will take part in a swim meet close to home and close to their hearts. The 2nd annual Fred Lamback Disability Swim Meet will take place on Saturday October 19th and Sunday October 20t. The meet which is organized by the Aiken-Augusta Swim league was introduced for the 1st time last year in honor of Fred Lamback, Augusta resident and swim coach to the BlazeSports swim program. Fred has dedicated countless hours to teaching swimmers with disabilities and for many, once they have found their water confidence under Fred’s guidance, there are no limits to their swimming ambitions. Many of Fred’s swimmers compete all over the country in both able bodied and disability swim meets.
Fred’s own son Lantz who has Cerebral Palsy, competed last year in the London Paralympic Games bringing home a bronze and gold in his events which takes his total Paralympic medal count to 8 – 2 gold, 2 silvers and 4 bronze.
In addition to the swim meet over the weekend the U.S. Paralympics Developmental Camp will be held October 17 – 18, 2013. It is intended for athletes with a disability who are interested in being involved with U.S. Paralympics Swimming. Vica Beelner of the GA Blazers will attend.
