LONDON 2012 PARALYMPIC GAMES KICK-OFF COMMUNITY EVENT TO BENEFIT BLAZESPORTS AMERICA

Local BP Marketers Clipper Petroleum and Georgia Oil Holdings to Present $10,000 Donation to BlazeSports America

ATLANTA (August 23, 2012) – To fuel the spirit of BP’s sponsorship of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams, Northeast Georgia based BP marketers Clipper Petroleum and Georgia Oil Holdings have teamed up with Paralympic Sport Atlanta, a program of BlazeSports America, to help build awareness of the benefits of recreational and competitive sports for youth and adults with physical disabilities.

The London 2012 Paralympic Games Kick-Off Party, hosted by BlazeSports America and the British Consulate-General Atlanta, is open to the public and will take place at The Solarium in Decatur, Ga. on Wednesday, August 29 at 6 p.m. In true Opening Ceremony-style, the evening will begin with a contemporary integrated dance performance from Full Radius Dance. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Georgia Blazer athletes and hear their stories of how they have overcome physical challenges through recreational and competitive sports. Paralympians Teresa Lannon and Rafy Ibarra will also be at the event to share their stories and sign autographs.

“Sport and recreation opportunities for kids and adults with physical disabilities have increased over the past few decades, but there are still limited opportunities compared to their counterparts without a disability,” says Mara Galic, chief operating officer of BlazeSports America, “We hope to raise awareness of the benefits of BlazeSports America for children and adults with physical disabilities throughout the evening and through our partnership with BP.”

BP marketers Clipper Petroleum and Georgia Oil Holdings will present a $10,000 grant donation to BlazeSports America at the event. The donation is made possible through the BP Fueling Communities grant program, which will help fund sport activities such as wheelchair basketball, boccia and swimming available at BlazeSports for kids with physical disabilities.

“On behalf of Clipper Petroleum and Georgia Oil Holdings, this donation is part of our shared commitment to make a positive impact in the communities where we do business and help fuel the future of Georgia athletes with physical disabilities,” said Denitra Baldwin, Marketing Director of Georgia Oil Holdings, LLC.

The BP Fueling Communities program provides grants to local organizations that are nominated by BP’s Branded Marketers to support the communities in which they do business. Fueling Communities helps spread charity and goodwill by giving back to local organizations that support health, education, youth, food and housing.
