Women’s U25 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships

Congratulations to Team USA on winning the event! The U.S. Wheelchair team defeated Team Australia in the final match at the U25 Wheelchair Basketball Championships. Team Great Britain clinched a 3rd place title when they beat Team Canada, as the two influential players – Helen Freeman and Amy Conroy combined for 51 points. The sport of Wheelchair Basketball is one of the 20 official sports that will be a part of the 2012 Paralympic Summer Games. For more information and results please visit: http://www.iwbf.org

Para-Climbing World Championships

Forty-eight Para-climbers from eight countries participated in the first-ever Para-climbing World Championships held in Arco di Trento, Italy, last week. The host country’s Silvia Parente who competed at the 2006 Torino Paralympic Winter Games clinched the overall title of the speed Para-climbing event with a time of 64.33. Russian Federation’s Mikhail Saparov – an amputee athlete – clinched the men’s overall title when he won the two different events: the speed and lead Para-climbing. Ice Sledge Hockey Launches Facebook Page
